Top 10 Food in Da Nang Vietnam with Prices

Top 10 local food recommendations in Da Nang Vietnam

Traveling to Vietnam is exciting, isn’t it? But have you considered going to Da Nang? Honestly, I was surprised that I enjoyed the food in Da Nang especially when you go to their local market. Traveling for food is more exciting and to experience the culture and vibe of a new country is really something to look forward to. Most of us would think that traveling to Vietnam is relatively cheap but with the quality of food it is just amazing. It is also worth noting that the food prices may vary depending on a particular city. For example, I find the food and drink prices in Hanoi to be more reasonable than Ho Chi Minh. The only issue that we had in Da Nang was the availability of public busses, but Grab is affordable so it was okay.

Here are the recommended Vietnamese dishes that we experienced in Da Nang with their food prices (per person, mostly):

1.) Banh Mi (Price: VND 30,000) – You can easily find Banh Mi stalls anywhere in Vietnam. When you get up in the morning, you can grab an authentic Banh Mi from a corner of the street. Since this is a staple food, I don’t mind getting this from a local food stall. The price may vary depending on the flavor and topping, you can even get one for less than VND 30,000. If you’re looking for a famous Banh Mi shop in Da Nang, you may want to check out “Banh My Ba Lan”.

2.) Banh Xeo (Price: VND 50,000) – Delicious Vietnamese pancake that makes every dip a delightful experience for a traveller. We got our in a local market in Da Nang at Con Market. You can fill the veggies with grilled meat vermicelli. The dipping sauce makes it unique with the aroma of the peanuts. Banh Xeo may differ in other region but so far we enjoyed the Da Nang version.

3.) Banh Trang Nuong or Vietnamese pizza (Price: VND 10,000) – A cheap street food (originally from Da Lat province in Vietnam) we found in a local market in Da Nang which serves as a filling snack. It is a made by grilled rice paper with toppings just like a pizza. If you’re looking for a quick bite, just look around the corner and surely you’ll find something to eat.

4.) Banh Cuon or Vietnamese Rice Rolls (Price: VND 50,000) – The first time I had this was in Hanoi and I really like its taste. This steamed Vietnamese Rice Rolls are very delicious and savory. This dish is popular in the Northern part of Vietnam, however, I was able to have this in a local market in Da Nang which is part of Central Vietnam. I consider this to be one of my favorite for its softness and it’s also filling.

5.) Bun Dau Mam Tom (Price: VND 50,000) – Bun Dau Mam Tom can have various toppings and you can have it in a platter. Basically, it is made of rice noodles, vegetables, and the highlight for this food will be is the fermented shrimp paste sauce which makes the whole thing distinctive and flavorful. A platter can have assorted meats and greens.

6.) Seafood experience at Son Tra Night Market, lobsters, etc (Price: 300,000 VND for 2 persons) – This price comes with cheezy lobsters, oysters, and Tom Yam seafood soup with lots of toppings. You can head to the vibrant Son Tra night market during the evening starting 5:30PM until midnight which is beside the Dragon Bridge. You can find plenty of street foods, massages and souvenir shops. So far, this is the best night market I’ve gone to in Vietnam. You can enjoy cheap seafoods such as lobsters, oysters, shrimps. Visiting this night market is a fun experience which you should not miss in Da Nang!

7.) Mi Quang (Price: 20,000 VND) – Looking for local breakfast, Mi Quang is a must try in Da Nang. Mi Quang is popular in Central Vietnam. It has roasted-peanuts (some of you may be allergic to it), made of high-quality white noodles mixed with meats, hard-boiled egg which will be served in a bowl. You can have the herbs on the side. Since it has carbs from the noodles, it is best suitable to eat it before you start your tour in Da Nang.

8.) Bap Xao or Vietnamese Stir-fried Corn (Price: 30,000 VND) – Considered as popular street food, Bap Xao is a Vietnamese stir-fried street corn mixed with tiny dried shrimps, some green onion, fish sauce, butter. It can be a little bit spicy and salty. You can just stand beside the street and enjoy this delicious snack or like what we did, just hang around the beach side.

9.) Dinner at Ngon Thi Hoa Restaurant (Price: 455,000 VND for 2 persons) – I would just like to add this amazing restaurant in this blog post whee they serve variety of authentic Vietnamese food options. The staff are nice, the place is cozy and has this traditional peaceful vibe. They also have live music at night. The price is a bit on the higher side since it’s a well-decorated restaurant. I would say it’s worth dining here. Highly recommended if you come and visit this place at night.

Here’s the breakdown of our receipt at Ngon Thi Hoa restaurant.

  • Nem Nuong (Grilled Pork Sausage) – 100,000 VND
  • Com Chien Ca Man (Fried Rice with salty fish) – 145, 000 VND
  • Ga Nuong (Grilled Lemon Grass Chicken) – 185,000 VND
  • Huda Beer – 25,000 VND
  • TOTAL of 455,000 VND

10.) Highlands Coffee (Price: 29,000 VND for a coffee) – If you ever come to Vietnam you will see Highlands Coffee almost everywhere – just like Starbucks. It’s a leading coffee chain in Vietnam. I included this in the list since I like the cafe and it’s also suitable to go in this cafe because of the hot weather in Da Nang. Yes, unlike Hanoi, Da Nang is on a hotter side because it’s in Central Vietnam. It’s a perfect place to get refreshments since it’s also made from premium Vietnamese ingredients, have snacks and try their pastry. You can have a pleasant coffee at an affordable price but expect crowd at times.
